MADISON ? More than 145,500 permits were recently issued for the spring 2011 Wisconsin wild turkey season through the spring turkey preference drawing. Postcard notifications to successful applicants will be going out in the mail later in the week.

2010 preliminary brood survey shows mixed results - Sep. 14, 2010
A wet spring may have resulted in lower production of grouse and pheasants, while turkey production may be up slightly, according to preliminary results of brood observations made over a 10-week period this spring and summer.

Remaining permits for the 2010 fall turkey hunting season will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis starting Saturday, August 28.

MADISON - With the first period of the 2010 spring wild turkey hunting season opening just around the corner on April 14, the Department of Natural Resources wishes hunters good luck and safe hunting. The DNR urges hunters to consider taking a youth out during the April 10-11 statewide Turkey Youth Hunt.

Hunters registered 7,073 birds during the Sept. 12 through Nov. 19 regular season and 1,192 birds during the Nov. 30 through Dec. 31 extended season in turkey zones 1 ? 5. In 2008, 10,698 birds were registered in the fall harvest.

Fall turkey season to be extended in five turkey management zones - Sep. 01, 2009
MADISON - Wisconsin?s fall turkey hunting season will be extended in five turkey management zones this fall, under a two-year trial period that has passed legislative review. Turkey hunters in zones 1 through 5 will be able to take advantage of the late season this year.
